Meet Victoria Butler
Victoria Butler is a writer from Barrie, ON. She was the Poet Laureate of said hometown from 2018 until 2022 and was the first woman to carry the title. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Toronto. Her first book, Little Miracles, was published with Black Moss Press in September 2021. Butler lives with her cats, Zelda and Navi, and too many candles.
“Victoria Butler’s debut collection of poetry, Little Miracles, is an intimate
examination of gentleness. Butler brilliantly captures the complexities
of an identity deeply enmeshed in its unalterable past and uncertain
future. This book whispers reminds you of a history mostly forgotten
or ignored-that of sand and water and woman.”
-Samantha Badaoa, author of So Am I

“Water is always constant. Rivers flow and waves crash. It is always there to make you clean again. It wants to keep you alive and covers you like a blessing, like reassurance for the possibility of good. So much of it exists within you that when you lay down beside it, it's as if you’re going home.”
